“It’s been something we’ve had to be real careful with so we didn’t have any setbacks.” Pouncey has had injuries to both hips. “I didn’t predict a guy jumping over a pile and falling on me.
Pouncey pulled himself out of practice Wednesday and did not work at all Thursday.
The Dolphins can’t afford to take chances with Pouncey, who is one of the NFL's highest-impact offensive linemen.
Pouncey recently had a stem cell procedure on the hip that limited him to five games last year.
Gase did not know if Pouncey would again need surgery (he had that same hip worked on late in training camp, causing him to miss the early part of the season).
If Pouncey cannot go, Anthony Steen would start at center and Kraig Urbik at guard, Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said.
